INTERNATIONAL STUDENT VISA REQUIREMENTS

You will need a visa issued by the NZ Immigration Service (NZIS) before you can come to New Zealand.  For more information, please visit the NZ Immigration Service website.

Be very careful to read all the instructions on the NZIS website to ensure that you file your application with the correct office of NZIS.  This is determined by the country that you live in.  Please also refer to the Guide For Studying in New Zealand.

To comply with the New Zealand Immigration Service requirements for a student visa you need to supply:

  • Completed NZ Immigration Service Student Visa Application Form. These are available from any New Zealand Embassy or Consulate or from the Registrar from this website.
  • Proof of acceptance on an approved course. We will send a letter of proof on receipt of all enrolment information and the non-refundable deposit.
  • An accommodation letter from someone living in New Zealand.
  • Proof of funds sufficient for the support of the student for the duration of the course or a guarantee from a sponsor for the sum of NZ$10,000 in accordance with the requirements from the New Zealand Immigration Service in the Financial Undertaking For A Student Application.
  • Proof that you meet the health requirements (if applicable).
  • Payment of one year's fees in advance to the College. These fees (except for the non-refundable deposit) are held by the NZ Public Trust until the student has been attending the College for seven days and are then drawn down by the College monthly.
  • Processing of student visa applications can take up to two months.  Please ensure that applications are lodged early.  If you have difficulty with the visa application, please contact the Registrar who may be able to help.
